Koh Pha-Ngan the famous Full Moon Party island is located on the east coast of Thailand in the Surat Thani Province. While most people go there to experience one of the biggest parties in Thailand the island also offers paradise beaches, waterfalls and beautiful sunsets.
Best way to explore the island is to rent a scooter or a motorbike. Prices for scooters depends on the season and what kind of bike you want. The longer you rent the better rate you get, daily rates usually starts between 150-200 baht ($4.5-6). Heads up never to leave valuable things in the scooter wile being at the beach.
Don’t miss these beautiful beaches on Koh Pha-Ngan.
1. Haad Khom (Coconut Beach)
Haad Khom also known as the Coconut beach is personally on of my favourite beaches on Koh Pha-Ngan because of the relaxed beach vibe. This beach is located west of Chaloklum Beach in the north of Koh Pha-Ngan and it has an easy access if you drive a scooter. The beach is small, has white sand, clear water and is surrounded by palm trees. There are a few resorts and restaurants along the beach and this is the perfect beach to visit if you’re looking for a place to relax.
How to get there: Drive to Coconut Beach Bungalows and park the bike at the top and walk down to the beach.
2. Lonely Beach
This is a lesser known beach on Koh Pha-Ngan and we found it by just looking around on google maps. The beach is located just a short ride outside Thong Sala. The beach is quite small and has mangrove trees at the end of the beach and some big rocks in the middle. The beach is quiet and relaxing.
How to get there: If your coming from Thong Sala drive past Grand Sea Beach Resort and continue another 300 meters and there will be a small gravel road on the left hand side. Park the bike by the side of the road and walk down to the beach.
3. Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi
This beach is located on the north side of Koh Phangan and is surrounded by mountains covered with tropical rainforest. The beach has soft white sand and turquoise water. This beach is home to some beautiful resorts and has a bohemian vibe with some nice restaurants and bars. We found this beach nice and relaxing and not crowded. If you want to watch the sunrise this is a good beach.
How to get there: If you’re driving a scooter Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi is located about 18km from Thong Sala and you have to drive across the island and drive over a big hill. the road is fairly good, but be aware that the road is in bad condition in some places so take it easy in the curves. The ride is very beautiful so enjoy the ride.
If you don’t want to drive or have a lot of luggage you can always get a taxi there.
